Medical Social Service General Information

 

The Medical Social Service is an essential unit of the health facility that provides services to help people maintain, attain or regain the ability to function socially. Medical Social Service aims to provide comprehensive professional social work services that are responsive to the patients and their families' psycho-social needs and make them participate in the realization of their optimal well-being.

We provide high-quality support service through effective teamwork using social work interventions in achieving the patient’s psycho-social economic adjustment.

PROGRAMS and SERVICES

  • PATIENT CLASSIFICATION (ER, Out-patient, and In-patient)
    Description

    Conduct of interview, psycho-social assessment, and classification of patients seeking admission or treatment in the hospital to determine their eligibility for medical social services in accordance with A.O. 51-A series of 2001.

  • AVAILMENT OF MEDICAL OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
    Description

    Provision of medical/financial assistance to needy and indigent patients to help augment their financial needs and manage other health-related concerns.

  • PSYCHO-SOCIAL INTERVENTION AND DISCHARGE PLANNING
    Description

    Provision of case management to patients and their families who met difficulties and to help restore their social functioning before hospital discharge.

  • MANAGEMENT OF ABANDONED AND UNIDENTIFIED PATIENTS
    Description

    All referred abandoned and unidentified patients from the different wards or areas are handled through case management to ensure proper case disposition.

  • PHILHEALTH POINT OF SERVICE (POS)
    Description

    Admitted patients verified by PhilHealth with no record or not qualified are enrolled under the Hospital Sponsor Membership Program to avail of PhilHealth benefits according to the provisions of RA 10924 or the General Appropriations Act of 2017.

  • WOMEN AND CHILD PROTECTION PROGRAM (WCPU)
    Description

    Conduct of intake interview and psycho-social assessment to referred cases of physically and sexually abused women and children.

  • PSYCHIATRY DEPARTMENT Medical Social Service
    Description

    Patient’s classification, conduct of intake interview and psycho-social assessment, provision of medical/financial assistance, individual and family counseling, formation of support groups and case management to psychiatric patients and their families.

  • CANCER CENTER Medical Social Service
    Description

    Patient’s classification, conduct of intake interview and psycho-social assessment, provision of medical/financial assistance, individual and family counseling, formation of support groups and case management to cancer patients and their families.

  • MALASAKIT CENTER
    Description

    It is a one-stop-shop that provides financial risk protection and responsiveness in delivering health care services and provision of medical and financial assistance with the help of participating agencies namely Philhealth, PCSO, DSWD, DOH, and host Hospital.
